This is my first official issue as the editor of Treasury & Risk Management, although, admittedly, much of the content, particularly our cover on the magazine's Sixth Annual Alexander Hamilton Awards For Excellence in Treasury Management essentially assumed its shape many months prior to my arrival. So in many respects this issue will not reflect the totality of my vision for the publication. Hopefully, no issue will, since the essence of good journalism and of good communications is that it continually evolves to meet the needs of its loyal readers and listeners and of the many new ones we hope to engage.
For the business community, for the United States and for the world as a whole this is an extraordinarily challenging time. My little daughter is turning two
years old, and I shudder at moments when I imagine the world she may face as she grows up. I am sure you too share that same anxiety for your families, your fellow workers, your companies and your homelands.
Although the world's woes will not be the constant fodder of Treasury & Risk Management, they do figure prominently in many of the decisions that you as
global financial leaders must make daily to ensure the well-being of your enterprises and of the many individuals who depend upon you for their
livelihoods and services. My hope for this magazine is that it will be able not only to capture and help you wrestle with the problems that keep you up at
night, but also to provide you advance warning on those that may await you around the corner.

I think you will find that T&RM will be a faster and livelier read, because after all, we are all busy people. One thing will not change: The goal of T&RM
will be to offer you the guidance and thought-provoking dialogue that helps you in your roles as chief financial officers, treasurers, cash managers, pension
plan administrators and risk managers, as well as the advice and personal examples that allow you to fulfill your professional aspirations.
I welcome you to come on this journey with us by keeping in touch with the editorial staff about issues you wish we would explore more fully. More so than
any publication you could pick up off the newsstand, this is a magazine written about you and for you in your highly complex professional roles. As your bosses
ask more of you in the way of strategy and vision, I hope T&RM can be there with some of those answers.
