AMR Corp., a $20.7 billion parent company of air carrier American Airlines, named Thomas Horton CFO and executive vice president of finance and planning. He succeeds James Beer, who left the Fort Worth, Tex.-based company to be CFO of Symantec Corp. Horton, 61, rejoined AMR from AT&T Inc., where he was CFO and vice chairman. Before he joined AT&T in June 2002, Horton served as AMR’s CFO and senior vice president from 2000 to 2002. Earlier, he worked at AMR’s European division as vice president from 1998 to 2000. He joined the company in 1985 from KPMG LLP. AMR also named Brian McMenamy controller and vice president. He replaces Douglas Herring, who was named president of American Beacon Advisors, AMR’s investment services unit. Most recently, McMenamy, 47, was managing director of airline profitability and financial analysis. He joined AMR in 1984 as an analyst and has held various financial positions, including managing director of financial planning and senior vice president of finance for TWA Airlines LLC, a subsidiary.
