Microsoft Corp., a $39.7 billion software provider based in Redmond, Wash., named Frank Brod vice president of finance and administration and chief accounting officer. He is replacing Scott DiValerio, who was named corporate vice president of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) division. Brod, 51, came to Microsoft from The Dow Chemical Co., where, most recently, he was controller and vice president. At Dow, Brod held various financial and technology positions during his 30-year career, including controller of Essex Chemical, now the Dow Automotive subsidiary, and financial controller and information systems director for Dow’s U.K. and Ireland operations. Meanwhile, Dow Chemical, a $46.3 billion chemical company based in Midland, Mich., named William Weideman controller and vice president to succeed Brod. Most recently, Weideman, 51, was vice president of group finance for the basic chemicals and plastics unit. Since joining Dow in 1976 as a cost accountant, Weideman has served in various finance and controller roles at Dow businesses, including vice president of finance for the chemicals and intermediates division and controller of Dow’s Texas operations.
