Michael J. Alix, formerly chief risk officer of the former Bear Stearns, was named senior vice president in the bank supervision group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The appointment drew critical media coverage and some public outrage since Bear Stearns was the first investment bank to fail in the financial crisis and was pushed into a bargain-basement deal with JP Morgan Chase by the Fed last March. Alix, will serve as a senior adviser to executive vice president and management committee member William L. Rutledge. Bear's chief risk officer from 2006 to 2008, Alix was managing director and global head of credit risk management from 1996 to 2006, and previously served eight years at Merrill Lynch.
Ray Carney moves up to vice president, controller and chief accounting officer at Dresser-Rand Group Inc., the $1.7 billion, Houston-based equipment component maker for gas compressors, wind turbines and drilling drives. Carney joined the company in August as controller and has been working with his predecessor Lonnie A. Arnett, 62, who is retiring, to transition responsibilities. Previously, Carney was a group controller for Alcoa.
David E. Mangum is the new executive vice president and CFO at Global Payments Inc., the $1.3 billion, Atlanta-based electronic transaction processing services provider. Mangum, 42, replaces Joseph C. Hyde, 34, who becomes president of international operations. Most recently, Mangum was executive vice president and CFO at CheckFree from July 2000 to December 2007, when it was acquired by Fiserv. Mangum joined CheckFree in September 1999 as senior vice president of finance and accounting, after holding that position at the managed systems division of Sterling Commerce.

Mark L. Nunneley has added interim CFO to chief accounting officer at Ashford Hospitality Trust Inc., the $1.1 billion real estate investment trust (REIT) based in Dallas, Texas. Nunneley, 50, takes over from David J. Kimichik, 47, who was hospitalized recently and expected to resume his duties as CFO and treasurer soon. Nunneley joined the company as chief accounting officer in May 2003 from Remington Hotel, where he served as CFO since 1992. Previously, Nunneley served as a tax consultant at Arthur Andersen & Company and as a tax manager at Deloitte & Touche.
Thomas A. Nardi has become executive vice president and CFO at Navigant Consulting Inc., the $767.1 million consulting firm based in Chicago, Ill. Nardi, 54, succeeds David E. Wartner, 41, who became interim CFO in addition to vice president, controller and chief accounting officer after Scott J. Krenz, 56, resigned in August to become CFO at Heidrick & Struggles International. Nardi served as president , a unit of Integrys Energy Group, from 2007 to June 2008. From 2005 to 2007, Nardi was executive vice president and CFO at Peoples Energy, and was its senior vice president, CFO and treasurer from 2001 to 2005.
Peter Whitfield moves up to senior vice president of finance and CFO at GTSI Corp., the $723.5 million provider of information technology solutions based in Chantilly, Va. Whitfield, 49, replaces Joseph D. Ragan III, 47, who resigned in August to become CFO at Boart Longyear, an integrated drilling services provider and minerals industry products manufacturer. Most recently, Whitfield served as interim CFO while continuing as vice president of financial planning, analysis, and internal audit, a position held since June. Whitfield joined the company in August 2006 as interim controller and was promoted to vice president of internal audit in March 2007. Previously, Whitfield was senior vice president for operations at InPhonic, a now defunct online retailer of wireless services and devices, from June 2005 to June 2006.
Kenneth L. Fish is the new CFO at Nautilus Inc., the $501.5 million maker and marketer of fitness equipment based in Vancouver, Wash. Fish, 53, succeeds William D. Meadowcroft, 45, who resigned as CFO, treasurer and secretary to pursue other opportunities. Since April, Fish had been chief administrative officer and vice president and general manager for the commercial business sector. Fish joined the company in 2005 and has served as senior vice president and general manager for the strength business, vice president for financial analysis, vice president and corporate controller and vice president for global finance. From 2003 to 2005, Fish was vice president of finance for Vestas Wind Systems.
David L. Solomon has added the title of CFO to chairman at NuVox Communications Inc., the $535 million telecommunications provider based in Greenville, S.C. Solomon, 49, replaces Stephen H. Shoemaker, 48, who resigned to become president and COO at luxury resort Asian Coast Development Ltd. Solomon has served as chairman since 2004, when NuVox Inc. merged with NewSouth Communications to form NuVox Communications. Prior to the merger, Solomon, an eight-year company veteran, was chairman and CEO at NuVox Inc. From 1994 to 1998, Solomon served as executive vice president and CFO at telecom provider Brooks Fiber.
G. Janelle Frost moves up to executive vice president and CFO at Amerisafe Inc., the $338.3 million writer of workers' compensation insurance based in DeRidder, La. Frost, 38, succeeds Geoffrey R. Banta, 59, who after more than three years is now executive vice president and COO. Most recently, Frost served as controller since May 2004 and vice president since 2006. Frost joined the company in 1992 and served as assistant vice president from May 2004 to May 2006 and deputy controller from 1998 to April 2004.
