Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee says that although the Fed will take its time reducing interest rates, the end result will be much lower rates if inflation stays near the Fed’s target.
Ports are reopening today, as the longshoremen's union agreed with terminal operators and shipping liners to extend their previous contract through January 15.
"The most important thing is going to be for the carriers, shippers, and workers to come to terms. There's really no substitute for the ports being up and running."
The odds of a March interest rate cut have ebbed significantly, as Fed officials push back against market expectations for imminent and deep reductions this year.
