SWIFT, the non-profit messaging network for banks, plans to acquire the assets of SunGard's Ambit Messaging Hub, which provides high-volume financial messaging. SunGard's AvantGard Ecosystem Communications Hub for corporate-to-bank messaging is based on the same technology as Ambit, so the transaction will strengthen the relationship between SWIFT and SunGard, the two organizations say. SWIFT plans to market the newly acquired technology as AMH (Advanced Messaging Hub).

IBM has launched an online community devoted to information governance topics, www.infogovcommunity.com. The site, which builds on the work of IBM's Information Governance Council, aims to solve challenges related to information governance by tapping into the knowledge of participants from the business and academic worlds. Participants can share their ideas or use the site's self-assessment tool to see how their companies measure up to benchmarks in this area.

Infor, an Atlanta-based company that provides business software to midsize companies, is now offering a cash management product for companies that use IBM's System i platform, in partnership with Cashbook, an Irish financial software provider. The product, Electronic Banking for Platform i, sits above a company's ERP system and has modules for electronic payments, bank reconciliation, bank lockbox and automation, direct debits and bank statement uploads.
