Mark Bierley was named CFO and senior vice president of The Pantry, a $6.4 billion chain of convenience stores, effective Sept. 27. He will replace Frank Paci, who is resigning from the Cary, N.C.-based company. Bierley, 44, most recently was CFO and COO of Borders Group, where he had worked since 1996. He was named Borders' senior vice president of finance in 2003, appointed CFO and executive vice president in 2009, and added the title of COO in June. Earlier, Bierley worked in finance positions at Dunham's Athleisure Corp. and Federal-Mogul.
Six Flags Entertainment, the $912.8 million amusement park operator, named John Duffey CFO. He succeeds Jeffrey Speed, who is leaving the Dallas company, which emerged from bankruptcy in May. Duffey most recently was executive vice president and chief integration officer at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, where he led the integration of Siemens Medical Solutions and Dade Behring. Earlier, he was CFO and executive vice president at Dade Behring.
Mary Higgins was named CFO and executive vice president of Global Cash Access Holdings, a $667.7 million Las Vegas company that provides cash access services to the gaming industry. The company's CEO, Scott Betts, had served as interim CFO since George Gresham left in May to become CFO of NetSpend. Higgins, 53, had served as CFO of Herbst Gaming since 2000. Earlier, she was CFO of Camco, a specialty retailer.

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, an Oak Brook, Ill.-based dredging company with $622.2 million of 2009 revenue, named Bruce Biemeck as president and CFO. As CFO, he succeeds Deborah Wensel, who is resigning. Biemeck served as Great Lakes' CFO, treasurer and senior vice president from 1991 to 1999. Since then, he has been a real estate investor and developer. Biemick joined Great Lakes' board in 2006.
Louis Belardi was appointed CFO, treasurer and secretary of SL Industries, a $147.6 million electronics manufacturer in Mt. Laurel, N.J. He succeeds David Nuzzo, whose departure was announced by the company in June. Glen Kassan, the chairman of the board, had served as interim CFO. Belardi, 59, has served as SL Industries' controller since 2004 and added the titles of treasurer and secretary in July. Earlier, he had his own management consulting company and worked in finance at Aydin Corp., which is now part of L-3 Communications.
Hooker Furniture, a $203.4 million furniture company in Martinsville, Va., named Paul Huckfeldt CFO effective Jan. 31. He will succeed E. Larry Ryder, who is retiring. Huckfeldt, 52, was appointed chief accounting officer in January. Since being named manager of operations accounting in 2006, he has run the company's corporate accounting functions. Earlier, Huckfeldt led the company's Sarbanes-Oxley implementation.
