Cyber criminals are targeting banks and credit unions, according to a Federal Bureau of Investigation alert issued earlier this week. The cyber crooks use spam or spear-fishing e-mails and keystroke loggers to steal login credentials from bank employees, then use those credentials to send unauthorized wire transfers.

The wire transfers range from $400,000 to $900,000, the FBI says. The alert notes a case in which the hacker raised the customer's wire transfer limit in order to initiate a larger transfer.
