Healthcare costs for large employers rose just 4.9% this year, down from 8.5% in 2011 and 6.2% in 2010, according to an analysis by Aon Hewitt, PlanSponsor reports. But the consultancy projects the average premium increase in 2013 will be 6.3%.

Aon put the average cost per employee at $10,522 this year, vs. $10,034 in 2011, and projects that will rise to $11,188 next year. Employees' portion of the health insurance premium was $2,204 this year, up from $2090 last year, while employees' out-of-pocket costs rose to $2,200, up from $2,072 last year.
