She has a master's degree in social and economic science from Vienna Business University.

Earlier, as assistant treasurer, she led the development of a foreign exchange risk management strategy. Scheer joined Thomson Reuters in 2009 after working in the treasurer's office at General Motors. She has a B.S. in mathematics from MIT and an M.B.A. in finance from Wharton.
